Saturday 20th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
THE new free service to help Islanders quit smoking is already oversubscribed, says the Medical Officer of Health.
Dr Rosemary Geller said that 250 people ‘of all ages and walks of life’ had so far signed up for the year-long Help 2 Quit course. The first ‘clients’ will start the programme next week with individual interviews at their GPs’ surgeries with one of three nurses employed by Health to run it. Health have set aside £450,000 to pay for the set-up and running of the smoking cessation service.
