Athletics:Silver for Other Sport

JERSEY SPARTAN AC thrower Jamie Stevenson (17) claimed the silver medal in the South of England indoor championships at Enfield over the weekend.
Stevenson, a nomination in the CI Sports Awards NatWest Rising Star category, threw a a personal best of 15.43m for the 6.25 kg weight, to outstrip coach John Hillier’s expectations.
Although suffering from tonsillitis, the Highlands student pushed winner Jay Thomas (16.20m) hard.
Thomas is in his final year in the age group while Stevenson still has another two full seasons.
