SWIMMING – Tigers set qualifying times: In the Channel Islands Championships Tigers’ Sam Fernandes took victory over JJ Gallichan in the 1500m freestyle in what was the highlight of the afternoon.
Fernandes swam in a time of 16.11.00 and Gallichan 16.11.28 which for both is an Island Games qualifying time.
Emma Glendening picked up her second Island Games qualifying time, this time in the 800m freestyle.
Finishing in 9.21.50 this qualifies Emma automatically for the South East Regionals.
Including Emma there were 13 South East regional automatic qualifying times.

SHOOTING – Gallichan takes High Gun: Steve Gallichan was High Gun in the Crabbé Clay Pigeon Club’s 50 Bird Sporting Practice with 40 ex 50.
Other results: A Class: William Loom, 39; B Class: Alex Shakeshaft, 38; C Class: James Lawrence, 37.
HOCKEY – Hockey Association results: In the JHA Investec Men’s Division I league, IFG Hautlieu lost 2-1 to Victoria College 1sts and OV Convicts drew with OV Victims 3-3.
In division II, Victoria College 2nds beat Crusaders 1sts 5-4, Victoria College Colts beat Hunters 1sts 1-0 and JHC Lions beat OV Vets 3-1.
In the Minor Cup, Jersey Ladies 2nds lost to Quackers E&Y Mallards 2-0 while Quackers E&Y Dabblers lost to Jersey Juniors 6-1.
DUATHLON – Bomber victory in duathlon: Brenton ‘Bomber’ Lee won the first of the Jersey Triathlon Club’s Pedal Power Duathlon Series races on Sunday at La Pulente.
With a 3 km run and a 15 km cycle Lee finished the race two minutes ahead of veteran Phil Ahier.
Mark Nicol was third, finishing five minutes behind the leader.
GOLF – Halsey and Hibbs to the fore: Mark Halsey and Martin Hibbs won La Moye’s St Dunstan’s Guide Dogs for the Blind Greensome Stableford on Saturday with a score of 41.
The competition was played off white tees and Bart McCarthy and Richard Upton came in second with a score of 38 while Duncan McSporran and Craig Neilson came third with 36.
MOTORSPORT – Trials results: Results of the Jersey Classic and Modern Trials Club trial held on Sunday at Archirondel were: A Route: Adam Le Cheminant; B Route: Paul Baudains; Pre 65 Premier: Graham du Feu; Twinshock Premier: Vince Lee-Baker; C Route: Chris Fox; Twinshock: Andy Jeanne; Junior A: Ben Rivé; Junior B: Matthew Harrison; Junior C: Kealan Bisson.
GOLF – The Cobway Trophy: Wheatlands Golf Course Cobweb Trophy results: 1, L Norman, 23 handicap, 43 points; 2, Paulo Dias, 20 handicap, 39 points; 3, Richard Kemp, 11 handicap, 36 points.
GOLF – Jersey Western Stableford: Results of the Jersey Western’s Gail and Dawn Deveau Greensome Stableford: 1, Paul Walters and Lee Pinglaux, 38 points; 2, Nick Watkins and Rab Palmer, 32 points; 3, Pat Paterson and David Jones, 32 points.
GOLF – Captain’s Cup for Le Monnier: David Le Monnier, 13 handicap, took the win in the Demi Golf Society’s Captain Cup at St Clement’s Golf Centre on Saturday with a nett score of 56.
Kenny Mitchell, 6 handicap, was second on 61 and Paul King, 11 handicap, came third.
GOLF – Victory for Viney and Blake: In the Royal Jersey Golf Club’s mixed foursome stableford on Friday, M Viney and L Blake playing off a 13 handicap won the competition with 39 points.
V Stone and MJ Lambert, 20 handicap, came second on 38 points following a count back with M Labey and I Green third.
GOLF – Allen picks up The Chalice: Carol Allen, 22 handicap, won The Resolution Chalice on Saturday at Wheatlands Golf Course with 33 points.
Pat Creighton, 15 handicap, was second finishing on 31 points and Linda Spence, 20 handicap, third on 23 points.
GOLF – Wheatlands winter series: In the third 9-hole Stableford Competition held at Wheatlands on Friday, John Bateup picked up a win with 17 points.
He won the nearest the pin competition ahead of Doug Gibaut on 16 points and Len Norman on 15 points.
