Strike could ground BA’s Jersey flights
Monday 22nd January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
A THREE-day strike planned for next week by British Airways cabin crew could ground the airline’s flights from Jersey to Gatwick.
However, it is too early to say whether the strike will go ahead as both sides say they want to try to find a resolution. British Airways flies five times a day to Gatwick from the Island and also has a daily service to Manchester and the travel plans of thousands of Islanders could be seriously disrupted. Bob Wickings, British Airways manager in Jersey, said it was too early to tell if Jersey services would be affected. ‘It really will depend on how widespread the strike is. The advice given out so far is that if the strike goes ahead, then services may be cancelled,’ he said. Passengers will be allowed to make changes to tickets, free of charge, to rebook on other BA services.
