Indoor Cricket: Juniors maintain lead over Phoenix Knights

JJCA II retained their two-point lead at the top of Division II in the NatWest Indoor Cricket League at Fort Regent last night.

The youngsters defeated JUBRFC by two wickets following a fine performance by Mark Chipperfield with bat and ball.

Chipperfield took three wickets for 17 runs as JUBRFC were restricted to 91 for 4 with David Jenkins top-scoring with an unbeaten 36.

JJCA reached their target for the loss of four wickets, Chipperfield scoring 29 not out and Sam de la Haye 20.

Second-placed Phoenix Knights maintained their challenge with a 23-run win against JJCA I.

Batting first the Knights amassed 127 for 3 following unbeaten innings by Sean Bilson (28), Andy Brown (25) and Henrik Swanapoel (25).

Brown chipped in with a three-wicket haul as JJCA I were all out for 104.

Duncan McCabe made 28, and Lee Meloy and Steven Blackburn 26 apiece.

Barclays defeated Springfield by three wickets with one ball of their 12 overs to spare.

Andrew Ricketts (42 not out), Mark Gilham (30 not out) and Jamie Dean (25 not out) helping the Bankers home.

Springfield’s 127 for 3 was reached following undefeated scores of 27, 26 and 25 by Mick Johnson, Richard Parker and Charles Woodrow respectively.

Bradley Vautier top-scored with 47 not out as Walkovers B beat Walkovers A by 18 runs.

The B closed their innings on 84 for 5 before dismissing the A for 66 after Vautier, Mark Roche and Paul Michel each took two wickets.
