Victims named in fatal car crash

THE men killed in a car crash on Grouville Hill in the early hours of yesterday have been named as 32-year-old Bruno Teixeira and 28-year-old Dominic Da Encarnacao.

Mr Teixeira lived in staff accommodation at the Seascale Hotel in Gorey, where he was a chef and assistant to his uncle, Tony Teixeira, who owns the hotel. Born in Madeira, Mr Teixeira had been in the Island for two years after training and working in Portugal, Spain and London. Mr Da Encarnacao was a chef at the neighbouring Moorings Hotel, where he lived. He had worked in the Island for at least 12 years. A 24-year-old man who is believed to have been the driver of the Astra is still in custody being questioned by the States police. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Another man remains in hospital with severe head injuries.
