THE driver of a car that crashed on Grouville Hill on Monday killing two passengers was charged with drink-driving when he appeared in the Magistrate’s Court today.
Duarte Luis (24), of La Rocque, Grouville, was driving the Vauxhall Astra Sport when it hit the iron gates and pillars of a house near Grouville Parish Hall just before 3 am on Monday. Two of the five passengers – 32-year-old Bruno Teixeira and 28-year-old Domingas Da Encarnacao – were killed. The other three men in the car were injured. A 40-year-old who suffered severe head injuries remains in intensive care in a serious but stable condition. The other two, a 23-year-old and a 27-year-old, were not badly hurt.
