Homes sell-off anger

STATES tenants have been reduced to tears at the news that their homes will be sold from under them, according to Deputy Celia Scott Warren.
She says that plans announced last week to sell 800 States homes, mostly through a shared equity scheme, have upset and angered tenants who have no chance of buying the homes they have lived in for decades. £75m work Last Tuesday Housing Minister Terry Le Main published the Housing Department Property Plan, which will use the money from the ten-year sell-off to fund a £75 million refurbishment programme to bring the States’ social housing portfolio up to scratch. But Deputy Scott Warren says that some families are devastated at effectively being forced out of their homes, and that some of them heard the news from the JEP before being informed about the sale by the department.
