TRIBUTES have been paid to the two men who died in a car accident on Monday. 32-year-old Bruno Teixeira and 28-year-old Domingas Da Encarnacao died when the car they were passengers in crashed into the gate and pillars of a house on Grouville Hill in the small hours of the morning. Both men were chefs in Gorey, Mr Teixeira at the Seascale Hotel and Restaurant and Mr Da Encarnacao at the Moorings. Mr Teixeira was the nephew of the Seascale’s owner, Tony Teixeira, and had been in the Island for two years. ‘He was my main man in the kitchen and a great help around the hotel,’ said his uncle. ‘Everyone is very upset, including customers.’ Mr Da Encarnacao had worked in Jersey for at least 12 years, most of that time in the kitchen at the Moorings Hotel, where he also lived. Owner Reno Martins said: ‘He was a very experienced chef and we would make the starters and all the dishes that needed a bit of flair. He was a great asset to the team and was liked by everyone at the hotel.’
