The end for Jersey cows?
Friday 26th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
JERSEY Dairy has backed the Scrutiny report on the future of the milk industry – but the president of the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society has said that the importation of milk will signal the end for the Jersey cow.
Dairy managing director Kevin Keen said he hoped the Scrutiny panel’s backing for moving the dairy from Five Oaks to Howard Davis Farm would encourage States Members to support the proposal when it comes to the House next week. Covenant Members are due to debate plans to change the covenant on the land at Howard Davis Farm at the sitting, and Mr Keen says he hopes the backing of Scrutiny members and ministers will mean the proposal goes through.
