Court makes an example of man with stun gun and pistol
Saturday 27th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
A GARDENER who brought a 9 mm blank firing pistol and a stun gun to Jersey to ‘defend himself’ was jailed for nine months by the Royal Court yesterday.
Rui Carlos Gomes Henriques (22), who was caught at the Harbour with the pistol and ammunition in April last year, will also be deported after serving his sentence. The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, said there was no place in Jersey for someone who imported weapons and had admitted taking illegal drugs. Going further than the recommendations of the prosecution – who moved for nine months’ probation – the court sentenced Henriques to nine months in prison and fined him £200.
