Farmer appeals for Hougue Bie field approval
Monday 29th January 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
FARMER Tom Binet wants the Planning Department to reconsider their refusal to let him build in a field near La Hougue Bie.
His plans to demolish the buildings and glasshouses at Hougue Bie Nurseries and Field 836, Grouville, and build two new houses, 14 units of staff accommodation and a new storage shed, were rejected by an applications panel last year. But Mr Binet – the managing director of Fairview Farm (2005) – has brought the scheme back before the panel with the hope that they will change their minds. He could not be contacted for comment today, but speaking last year he said that he ‘made no apology’ for his plans. Mr Binet said that they included tree-planting and the intention was to sink the storage shed into the ground so it could not be seen from the road.
