A MAN who was due to be sentenced today for paedophilia, including indecent assault and gross indecency on children, hung himself on Saturday.
Paul Jonathan Romeril (39), was found hanging in his cell at La Moye Prison by a member of the prison staff and was dead on arrival at the General Hospital’s accident and emergency department. He was found at about 3.30 pm and La Moye governor Steve Guy-Gibbons said he was pronounced dead some time after 4 pm. The States police say there are no suspicious circumstances. Romeril was charged along with David John Powell of 13 counts of paedophilia, including indecent assault and procuring an act of gross indecency on a child as young as 12. Romeril also admitted making and possessing indecent photographs of children between 1 March 1999 and 31 October 1999.
