Deputy refuses to sell land for village green

A STATES Deputy who owns land adjoining the St Ouen’s village green site has told the parish he will not sell at any price.

Constable Ken Vibert told a parish meeting last night how he had tried to buy the part of the field where Troy Developments have permission for four houses – but was told by company director Deputy Peter Troy that he will not sell. While the parish will still have two-thirds of the field for the village green, Mr Vibert had hoped that the developer would sell the remaining third in case the parish ever needed it. But he told a parish assembly last night that Assistant Social Security Minister Deputy Troy – whose company bought the field recently for more than £500,000 – had refused to sell.
