Lauren bobs up with gold!
Wednesday 28th February 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
JERSEY’S bobsleighers made a hugely impressive debut in the British Championships with Commonwealth Games athlete Lauren Thérin striking gold as brakewoman in GB1 in the ladies twos.
Novices Will Golder and Jamie Millar also impressed with a remarkable 8th place in the two-man bob – astounding many of the seasoned bobsleighers at the event in Igls, Austria. And they were not the only Jersey representatives – one of the teams Will and Jamie beat included Old Victorian and now RAF officer John Le Cornu. Will and Jamie only started in the sport in October after Lieut-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway launched his search for potential Olympians in one of his favourite sports.
