Rue de Jambart scheme is dropped
Wednesday 28th February 2007, 12:00AM GMT.
PEOPLE power has prevailed in St Clement. The Planning Minister has decided that a site off Rue de Jambart will not be used for sheltered housing.
Senator Freddie Cohen’s decision comes just a week after parishioners voted 172 to 85 against a proposition to build 56 houses on the land. Senator Cohen said that he would not go against the wishes of the parish by rezoning the land for housing, and it was clear that St Clement was against development in the area. It was one of three areas listed – as well as the St Clement’s School site and Rue de la Lourderie – by parishioners as possible areas for social housing.
