Six complain about Syvret treatment

SIX States Members – including Health Minister Stuart Syvret – have made a formal complaint against the Privileges and Procedures Committee for the way the committee is handling a complaint against him.

A six-page document was handed to Privileges president St Clement Constable Derek Gray in the States yesterday. How it will be investigated remains to be seen as there is no process in States rules stating what should be done in the event of a complaint being made against the body responsible for governing the behaviour of States Members. And there could be a dramatic clash between the rebel Senator and the committee this afternoon. The Senator, who is himself a member of Privileges, was due to appear before the committee as it seeks to determine if the Health Minister breached the States Members’ code of conduct in his controversial open letter to property developer Richard Brocken.
