Shop helps charity make headway
Saturday 31st March 2007, 12:00AM BST.
HEADWAY, the brain injury association, opened a new charity shop in Don Street yesterday.
The ribbon cutting was carried out by the charity’s patron Valerie Ridgway, wife of the Lieut-Governor, Lieut-General Andrew Ridgway. Income generated by the shop is important to the running of Headway and the charity say that the donation of goods is as important as cash donations. ‘What can be better than decluttering your house and helping a local charity?’ asks Val Bass, shop manager. Donations can be dropped off at the shop from Tuesday to Saturday between 10 am-4.30 pm. Later in the year Headway are introducing a hat-hiring service and are asking Islanders to donate unwanted special occasion hats.
