Engineers vote to take action

AROUND 50 States engineering workers based at La Collette have voted to take industrial action over fears their jobs are being gradually privatised.

But there is no threat to Easter travel plans as it is highly unlikely the men involved will take any immediate action. At a meeting on Friday the workers unanimously supported declaring an official dispute to protest at other workers doing jobs they had previously done. The men used to work for Jersey Harbours but were transferred to the Transport and Technical Services department last May.
