Inquiry into ‘Sky’ hard-sell callers

A COMPANY which is targeting Islanders by trying to sell them insurance for their Sky television equipment is now under investigation in the UK thanks to Fair Play readers.

Hundreds of people have responded to the consumer column’s request to help Trading Standards compile evidence about the sales techniques of Satellite Services. Back in December, Fair Play warned that the company were offering people the chance to sign up to a monthly protection programme to cover the television equipment. Although a legitimate company, many people were concerned that the sales people making the cold calls were purporting to be representing Sky Television. Because of this, many Islanders unwittingly signed themselves up to the £60 per year packages.
