Students offered role as summer interns
Wednesday 4th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
STUDENTS will have the opportunity to spend their summer working for local companies as part of a scheme designed to encourage more graduates to return to the Island.
The Jersey Undergraduate Internship will take place during the summer for a period of up to eight weeks. Set up by the Jersey Economic Development department, the programme will give local undergraduates the opportunity to take up meaningful paid employment. Last year’s pilot programme involved 56 undergraduates and 47 local organisations. To date, 138 students and 80 employers have registered for this year’s programme. Some organisations are offering more than one internship position. The aim is that at least 100 people will get a position in this year’s programme.
