Flowers on a Sunday: You still need a licence

RETAILERS who want to sell cut flowers on Easter Sunday will still need specific approval from the Constable of the parish.

Although the States last month agreed to allow cut flowers to be sold on a Sunday, retailers still need a licence which specifies that they can sell cut flowers.

The Constable of St Lawrence, Geoffrey Fisher, who is also the Assistant Minister for Economic Development responsible for the Sunday Trading Law, said despite the States decision the normal rules applied.

‘If the retailer has a licence, it specifies the categories of goods which they can sell.

The list won’t include cut flowers because we’ve only just changed the law, so cut flowers needs to be added to the existing list by applying to the parish hall.
