Transport Minister waits for a bus station name
Thursday 5th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
ISLANDERS are being asked to help name the new bus station, because the St Helier Transportation Centre does not exactly roll off the tongue.
Transport Minister Guy de Faye is today asking JEP readers to suggest possible names for the indoor hub at the centre of the development on the old abattoir site off the Esplanade. He said he was keeping an open mind and was looking forward to see what Islanders came up with. In Liverpool, the airport was named after one of the city’s most famous son, the former Beatle, John Lennon, whereas Doncaster airport is named after the folk hero Robin Hood. Here in Jersey, those who like alliteration might consider the Kieran Bracken or Jim Bergerac bus station.
