Man cut wheel-clamp and threw it into bin
Wednesday 11th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
A MAN who dismantled a wheel clamp with bolt-cutters and threw it into a rubbish bin has been jailed for three weeks.
But the UK-based businessman, who handed himself in to police three weeks ago after fleeing the Island in March, walked free from court yesterday after serving his time on remand. Paul Lee Boulton (34) faced multiple charges including being drunk and disorderly, drink-driving, causing malicious damage and 16 parking offences. He was bound over for 12 months after Relief Magistrate Peter Mourant said it was obvious that he was trying to turn his life around. The court heard that Boulton, also known as Paul Lee Wilkinson, had been arrested on 21 January after a fight in Chicago Rock bar. The fight had started after he burst another man’s helium balloon with his cigarette. When the fight broke out, Boulton punched the man on the nose. He got into trouble two months later on 26 March when he was pulled over in Beresford Street by police who spotted that he was not wearing his seatbelt. Officers asked him how much he had had to drink, and he replied: ‘Too much.’
