Bergerac rides again
Thursday 12th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
CALLING all Bergerac fans . . . Any Islanders who weren’t lucky enough to appear in the original series will now have another chance.
Commercial radio station Channel 103.7FM are tonight making a spoof sequel of the famous detective show which was set in Jersey. They want as many Islanders as possible to come along and watch ‘Bergerac: The Sequel’ being made. According to presenter Katy Ringsdore, this has all spiralled from her mentioning the hit TV programme on her radio show on Tuesday. ‘I was talking on air about how my parents had once played a very small part in the original series,’ she explained. Then I wondered how many other people in Jersey had appeared in it, so I opened it up to my listeners. All the phone lines went mad. About 200 people said right away said that they had been in Bergerac, so off the cuff I said let’s all get together to film a new episode.’ Thus it is that ‘Bergerac: The Sequel’ will be made at 5.30 pm tonight at the Cock and Bottle pub and will be raising money for the charity Help a Jersey Child.
