Football:Mondeville players benefit from different experience
Friday 13th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
FRENCH visitors Mondeville have enjoyed their first Jersey Primary Schools’ Festival despite losing four of their five games to date.
The Normandy side suffered heavy defeats in their opening three games but results have improved with a 1-1 draw with Waltham Forest on Wednesday and a single goal defeat to Newbury B yesterday.
Mondeville vice-chairman Jacques Guesdon said: ‘It’s been a very good week and our players are still learning.
I certainly hope we get an invite to return again next year.
‘It’s been very interesting for all of us, our coaches and the players.
We play nine-a-side and we’re not used to the offside line, we play off-side in a zonal area.
‘But the players are learning and this is good for them.
We have around 300 players at Mondeville who get coaching and next time we will bring a more senior team.
‘Results have not been good but the result are not important it is learning and playing well.
We have lost a lot of games but we were very proud to have drawn one game too.’
