Norfolk to open Jersey’s cricket season tomorrow
Friday 13th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
MINOR Counties club Norfolk open Jersey’s cricket season tomorrow with a 50-overs-a-side match against a Jersey Cricket Board XI at Grainville.
The visitors are in the Island for pre-season training and they are sure to be stiff test for a JCB side that sees a handful of changes from the squad that defeated Italy 2-0, away, in a three-match European Cricket Council Bi-Lateral series last month.
Jersey’s squad is: Peter Gough, Chris Jones, Ryan Driver, Jonny Gough, Tony Carlyon, Dave Morfee, Tom Minty, Bradley Vowden, Peter Blackburn, James Caunt (wicket-keeper), Martin Waite and Danny Bertram.
Norfolk player-coach Chris Brown played for Lancashire from 1994 to 1997 while also playing first-class cricket in Sri Lanka in 2006.
Team captain Paul Bradshaw and Carl Rogers have represented the Minor Counties’ Cricket Association team while Chris Brown has played for the English Cricket Board XI and wicket-keeper Luke Newton for England’s Deaf Team.
The match at Grainville starts at 11 am.
