Police investigate horse poisoning claim
Saturday 14th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
POLICE are investigating the suspected poisoning of a horse in Grouville.
Owner Nicci Drabble found her 24-year-old Ryan on the ground yesterday ‘in a really uncomfortable state’ at about 8.20 am in the field on La Rue de Marais a la Cocque. Mrs Drabble (38), who has owned horses all her life, said: ‘It was a really weird colic so I immediately phoned the vet and he examined Max.’ She later phoned the States police and made a complaint. She said officers were on the scene for some time. She said Max was fine when she left him on Thursday night in the field he shares with 16-year-old Mackie and Hamster (6). ‘He may be 24 but he is in good condition and a fit horse who is ridden three to four times a week,’ she said. Mrs Drabble said Max was ‘still very poorly’ yesterday afternoon. ‘He was given a painkiller but the next 24-hours are going to be vital,’ she said.
