UK finance adviser to look at Island prospects
Thursday 19th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
THE economic adviser to the British Chambers of Commerce is in Jersey this week to carry out an overview of the Island’s economic future.
David Kern, former chief economist at NatWest Bank, has been invited by the Jersey Chamber of Commerce to prepare an independent report.
He is meeting representatives of the financial services, retail and tourism sectors as well as States officers and key politicians.
Mr Kern said the aim of his investigation was to look at the prospects for the Jersey economy, to stimulate debate and address some of the concerns, including the ‘black hole’ expected to result from the introduction of zero corporate tax in 2009.
