THERE were mixed feelings for Nick Allison as he returned from the Bol D’Or Classic Endurance Race in Magny Cours at the weekend.

Competing for Team Glam Racing with team owner James Clark, Allison qualified the pair for the first two-hour race in pole position.

Clark handed over to Allison to take on the second hour of the evening race from third place and despite racing through the dark for 50 minutes, Team Glam had to retire the P+M Kawasaki 1100 cc bike with ten minutes to go, and looking likely for third, after suffering with engine problems.

However, despite the bitter disappointment of this result, the pair were back in action for the second two-hour race the next day and started again from pole position.

With Allison taking the opening hour of the second race, he handed over to Clark in second place and with the race going smoothly this was their finishing position.

Allison said: ‘Because the races were combined to give an overall result we suffered due to the result of the first race – had we finished that one we would have certainly been on for a podium place.’ ‘There were a lot of people there so it was quite a special event and racing in the dark was quite an experience – in some parts of the track it was complete darkness so there was a lot of guess work going on.

‘I’m pleased with our efforts though – it’s just disappointing that with all the effort we put in we didn’t get a real result.’ Allison’s next race will be at the Olivers Mount circuit in North Yorkshire on the May Bank Holiday weekend and then he is back with Team Glam for a race at Spa in Belgium in August.
