£28,000 worth of heroin seized

HEROIN with a street value of up to £28,000 was seized by police on Saturday and two men were arrested.
José Manuel de Sousa Nobrega (39) has been charged with importing the drug and intending to supply it. José Franco (23) has been charged with plotting to import heroin. Nobrega, who lives in London, had flown to the Island from Gatwick Airport on Saturday. He was picked up by Drug Squad officers in Colomberie shortly before 7 pm that evening. Franco, who lives locally, was then arrested at a property in St Saviour. Both men were detained at Police headquarters and interviewed over the weekend. They were due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court today.
