Arrested teenager ‘had knuckleduster’
Tuesday 24th April 2007, 12:00AM BST.
A TEENAGER arrested near Les Quennevais sports centre on Friday night was allegedly carrying a knuckleduster.
The 17-year-old was arrested by States police officers for allegedly possessing an offensive weapon and violently resisting arrest. St Brelade Chef de Police Centenier Geoff Cornwall said this was the latest in a series of incidents in the area involving youngsters that were causing concern to both nearby residents and the police. The teenage boy was among a group of about 50 who had gathered in the area of the sports centre. Centenier Cornwall said his officers reported that the changing rooms at the centre had been ‘trashed’. Honorary and States police units were called to break up a reported disturbance some time between 9.30 pm and 10 pm. Officers said youths had been drinking and dozens of beer cans were left strewn around the area.
