WALKOVERS moved to top in Division II of the NatWest Evening Cricket League last night.
Last season’s Division III champions charged to a nine-wicket victory against St Helier RFC at FB1, with Nick Dingle and Paul Michel in fine form with the ball, both taking three wickets.
Dingle’s two overs came at the cost of six runs while Michel landed his three-wicket haul for four runs off nine deliveries as St Helier RFC were dispatched for 54 in 9.1 overs.
St John moved up two places to second after an 18-run win against previous leaders Jersey Academicals, who are now third.
Jon Evans (39) and 18-year-old Greg Forster (51, retired) laid the foundations for St John’s win, with Evans hitting one boundary and Forster two 6s and four 4s.
Dominic Glennon top-scored for Academicals with 43.
St John’s Andy Richardson’s three-over spell resulted in three wickets for 17 runs.
Rathbones OVs, who moved up one position to fourth, beat G4 Securicor by six wickets.
Both teams had a batsman retiring after scoring 51 runs, Bobby Minty for the winners and Shaun Clark for the losers.
