Arrest in sexual assault case
Friday 31st August 2007, 12:00AM BST.
DETECTIVES yesterday arrested a man in connection with the alleged serious sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in St Helier.
The 22-year-old man was said to be helping the police in the hunt for the attacker and was released pending further inquiries last night. Officers today reissued their appeal for information about the alleged incident. The girl has told the police that she was forcibly led by the wrist through town to an address in Val Plaisant where she was allegedly subjected to the assault. Once she left the property, the police received a desperate call from her on her mobile phone. Officers said that she was screaming for help. When they arrived, she was being comforted by a passer-by. She is thought to have entered the Val Plaisant property at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday night and made the call to the police shortly before 11 pm.
