It’s his behaviour we can’t stand, says Chief Minister

MOVES to sack Health Minister Stuart Syvret from his job were prompted solely by his ‘reprehensible behaviour in recent weeks’, says Chief Minister Frank Walker.

The Council of Ministers’ proposal to dismiss the Health Minister is, he adds, nothing to do with the claims that Senator Syvret has made about alleged deficiencies in the Island’s child protection system. ‘The proposal is solely based on his unacceptable behaviour and language in recent weeks. He has made as yet unsubstantiated serious allegations and damning accusations about a wide variety of people. His conduct and behaviour is not acceptable from a minister,’ he said. The Chief Minister has accused Senator Syvret of trying to confuse the issue by asking for a delay in debating the proposal for his dismissal. Senator Syvret is to ask the States on 11 September to delay the debate as he claims that new evidence is constantly emerging from whistleblowers and victims and he needs more time to present his case effectively.
