Horse put down after running into Land Rover in St Mary

Tuesday 4th September 2007, 12:00AM BST.

A HORSE had to be put down after it ran into a moving car at the weekend.

The horse reared up onto the bonnet of the Land Rover Discovery, breaking its leg and cutting its head. The incident took place near St Mary’s Country Inn on Saturday morning. A police spokesman confirmed today that nobody had been harmed but said that the horse was seriously injured and later had to be put down by the attending vet. St Mary-based vet Max Allan was not involved but said that it was his understanding that there were two horses involved: both had become agitated by a loud noise and their riders had dismounted.
