Jersey singer makes the cut

JERSEY singer Kim Syvret is another step closer to rock and roll stardom after helping land her band Kalorie in a major national TV competition.

This week Kim and her bandmates George, Holly and Nat were called to Sheffield for a last-minute audition and an interview with Channel 4′s T4 frontman Alex Zane. It was all part of MobileAct Unsigned, which aims to root out new and unsigned UK talent through public votes and TV judges. She recently asked Jersey people to back her bid for stardom by voting for the band – and it seems to have helped. Kim said: ‘We were actually told last week that we hadn’t got through on the reserve list. However, I received a call on Sunday morning saying a band had dropped out, and they wanted us to audition in Sheffield that same day. Luckily we had a good few hours to get there, as they didn’t need us until 7 pm, but it was a bit worrying at one point as band member Holly was in Dorset and had to get a six-hour train journey up, so we were still waiting at 7.30 pm.’
