Slippery new tiles at pool
Wednesday 5th September 2007, 12:00AM BST.
AN investigation is under way after a number of swimmers slipped on the newly tiled floor at Les Quennevais swimming pool.
The pool has been open for just four days since having a £75,000 revamp. An emergency meeting was called yesterday afternoon and tests are now under way to find out why the floor tiles are slippery. David Bisson, head of operations for Education, Sport and Culture, said: ‘The tile manufacturer has confirmed that the design is suitable for changing rooms and they are not faulty. They were imported from the UK by a local supplier. However, we are not entirely happy and want to find out why there appear to be more slips so we will carry out tests.’ Around 15 customers complained after slipping in the changing room on the first day of opening but no one was injured.
