Hollywood star flies in for show

HOLLYWOOD legend Mickey Rooney and his wife Jan were relaxing at the Grand Hotel last night ahead of his two-night show at the Opera House.
The 86-year-old, who is celebrating a remarkable 85 years in show business, left it late for his first visit to Jersey but is today taking a tour around the Island. For two nights he will be singing, dancing and reminiscing on stage, as well as singing a few duets with his wife. Speaking last week, his wife said: ‘There will be lots of music. Mickey will tell stories and maybe do a couple of impressions. There will also be some clips of old movies from when Mickey was young.’ 100 films The Academy Award winner started acting in 1922 at the age of 17 months, has made over 100 films, fought on the Normandy beaches during the Second World War and can play almost every instrument.
