Sexual assault in town
Friday 7th September 2007, 12:00AM BST.
AN area behind Liberation Square was cordoned off this morning after a 34-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted last night.
Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the alleged incident. The woman alerted a passer-by after the incident, which is believed to have taken place in the alley-way behind the old Harbour Office and next to the toilets in Liberation Square. It is believed that the man and woman knew each other. Police say that they left the Soleil Levant pub at about 9.30 pm, then went to the Prince of Wales pub before walking to Liberation Square at around 10 pm.
