Minister’s future debated today

HEALTH Minister Stuart Syvret arrived at the States this morning knowing that he might end the day on the backbenches.
For the first time in the ministerial era, the States will be asked to remove a member of the Council of Ministers at the request of the Chief Minister. The States decided this morning that they would debate the dismissal motion today, despite the protests of Senator Syvret who argued that he had not had enough time to prepare his case. ‘There has been an absence of due process,’ he claimed. ‘The meeting in which they discussed the [dismissal] document was an unscheduled meeting for which I had three days’ notice.’ But the Chief Minister successfully argued that the debate should be held today.
