It’s not true, says former teacher named by minister

A FORMER teacher who was accused in the States yesterday by Senator Stuart Syvret of obstructing an abuse inquiry has condemned the politician’s actions.

Senator Syvret named the man during yesterday’s dismissal action and is protected from legal action by parliamentary privilege. He claimed that the man had described a case of abuse of students by a colleague as ‘teacher’s perks’ to police officers. The former teacher, who now works for a States department, never faced charges in connection with the inquiry, despite Senator Syvret’s claims that he had ‘obstructed’ it. He told the JEP that he vehemently denied the allegations. ‘They are disgusting and totally untrue,’ he said. ‘I’m upset and annoyed. I cannot understand how anybody in their right mind can say anything like that when they know it’s not true. ‘The comments were never justified and never proven. It’s unbelievable.’
