Jersey pots victory over Scotland in Wales

JERSEY beat Scotland 12-6 and drew with Qatar 9-9 in yesterday’s snooker Home Internationals in Prestatyn, Wales.

Against Scotland, Aaron Canavan and Gary Britton both won 3-0, the latter making breaks of 32 and 51 to win the first frame, coming back from 25-40 to take the second 75-41, and again coming from behind in the third to win, following a 50 break, 77-63.

There were 2-1 wins for Karl Le Fèvre, who after being 30-53 down came back to win the opening frame 62-61 with a 25 clearance, and Karl Softly.

Dave Snell and Ray Kilmartin lost their matches 2-1 but Kilmartin’s final-frame win with a superb 79 break sealed the overall victory for the JBSA team.

Against Qatar, Alexander, Softly and Snell won 2-1 and Britton was beaten 3-0.

Le Fevre won two frames of his match and Kilmartin one to tie the game.

Jersey play Northern Ireland today.
