Thieves target visitors six hours into holiday
Friday 14th September 2007, 12:00AM BST.
A VISITING couple from Grimsby have had their holiday ruined by thieves who stole bags, cash and camera equipment from their hotel room.
Barry and Nga Sheen had been in the Island less than six hours yesterday when someone climbed in through their ground floor window at the Washington Hotel while they ate dinner and went for a walk. The value of the stolen items amounts to £500, but Mr Sheen said he is far more concerned for the videos that were taken with his camcorder. ‘Everything was in a sports bag in the wardrobe. I had videos in there of my mum and dad. My mother died about six weeks ago and my dad died last year. They really mean a lot to me because they are irreplaceable,’ he said. Mrs Sheen’s handbag was also stolen along with money and bank cards.
