JCRA retains its budget

JERSEY’s competition watchdog will not have its budget slashed in 2008, the States agreed on Friday.
New Health Minister Ben Shenton lost his proposition to reduce the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) funding by £150,000 by just three votes. He had argued in an amendment to the 2008 Business Plan that the JCRA should be smaller and focused on local problems that affect consumers.
