RESIDENTS in their 80s who are being forced out of their Ann Court homes say that a thriving, friendly and safe community is being destroyed.
An eviction letter from Housing, headlined ‘Community Newsflash’, described it as ‘a difficult and exciting time’. The residents knew that Ann Court was due to be partly demolished and rebuilt or refurbished, but it may be done away with entirely to make way for a new road and car park as part of the Town Masterplan drawn up by consultants Edaw. The residents are angry that their community is to be broken up, possibly to make way for cars. Some of the tenants are in their 80s and have lived on the estate near the Arts Centre since it was built more than 20 years ago. There are 70 homes on the estate.
