Shamed stars heading for Jersey tournament

DISGRACED UK tennis teenagers Naomi Broady and David Rice are both due to play in Jersey in two weeks’ time.
The duo yesterday had their funding withdrawn by the Lawn Tennis Association as a result of ‘lack of discipline’.
Both players, the under-18 National girls’ champion and second-ranked British junior male respectively – together with other junior players – have made childish boasts about their social exploits on a website.
The LTA have acted after being told of photographs and confessions on the website which clearly breaches players’ contracts about them acting professionally at all times.
Broady and Rice have entered the Caversham $25,000 women’s and $15,000 men’s competitions which are being held at Les Ormes between 6 and 14 October.
Channel Islands tennis development officer Hugh Raymond said: ‘Players have got to adhere to the LTA’s principles and with what they’ve done they were just asking for trouble.
