Business Plan is wrapped up
Wednesday 26th September 2007, 12:00AM BST.
AFTER five days of debate, States Members have wrapped up the Business Plan which proposes a 7.2 per cent spending increase up to £559m for next year.
Yesterday, the final pieces of the plan – the £42m capital programme and next year’s law drafting programme – were agreed by the House. Despite some criticism of the capital programme, mainly about oversight of capital projects generally but also about the scale of the new incinerator, it was approved by Members. The Business Plan covers what the States will do next year. It sets basic objectives for all States departments and allocates department spending limits. The only amendment to the law drafting programme – to replace the planned rewrite of the Licensing Law with a new piece of legislation covering a financial services ombudsman – was defeated by 27 votes to 13.
