Grouville up to second

GROUVILLE moved into second place in the Under-18 Division after winning the only game played in the section on Sunday.

James Walsh scored twice and Henry Adelmann once in a 3-0 success away to St Peter to push Grouville up two places to within one point of leaders St Brelade.

There were some big scores in the Under-16 division this week where the top four all won.

Trinity made it five out of five after scoring nine without reply at home to St Peter – Harry Watkins (four), TJ Fearon (two), Scott Finnigan, Alex Carpenter and Aaron Young hitting the on target.

Joint-second placed Grouville cruised to an 11-4 win against the home team at St Ouen.

Josh Warder, Tom O’Toole and Dan Berry all scored twice for the winners as Ben Griffin, Stephen Coleman, Ajay Tailor, Elliot Jones and Tom Dines added singles.

On target for St Ouen were Paulo Vieira (two), Jamie Brown and Sam Cartwright.

Grant Johnson bagged a hat-trick in St Clement’s 7-2 home success against St John.

Jake Hudson and Aaron Gill both hit doubles for the hosts and Bruce Spencer-Tucker and Michael Migney singles for the visitors.

St Brelade moved into a mid-table position following a 6-1 win at home against Rozel Rovers.

Michael Wakeham (two), Michael Ahier, Alex De Guelle, Rob Connor and Luke Kellett registered for the Saints and Danny Hanby for the Rovers.

Champions Jersey Wanderers retained joint-second position after returning 6-2 victors from St Saviour against St Paul’s.

Jake Baker and Clayton Romeril were on target for St Paul’s with Ryan Connan (two), Kamen Nafkha, Tim de la Haye, Andrew Gee registering for Wanderers together with a Saints defender.

First Tower and Jersey Wanderers A both won for the fourth consecutive time in under-14 Division I, Tower 3-0 at home to St Clement A and Wanderers 6-0 at the Hockey Club against Grouville.

Charlie Petulla, Nick Carpenter and Calvin Weir notched for Tower and Bradley Stratford (two), Stephen Coelho, Tom Hooper, Chris Levesley and Kieran Brennan for Wanderers.

Jamie Gray grabbed St Peter’s consolation in a 5-1 home defeat by St John who netted through Hugo Powell (two), Danny Cutland, Richards Streets and Naim Bappa.

St Paul’s B remain top of Division II after scoring 15 times at home to St Peter B.

Jamie Burrows scored five, Jack Hinton three, Danny Brennan and Ben Etienne two each, and Liam McCormack, Harrison Crick and Matti McGhee singles.

St Ouen, who are joint-top with St Paul’s B, won by the odd-goal in five at home to St Clement B.

Alex Scudder (two) and Chris Ferey registered for St Ouen and Luke Brown and Matt Boxall for St Clement B.

Jordan Egerton hit a hat-trick in Jersey Wanderers B’s 9-2 success at the Hockey Club against Beeches Old Boys.

Two goals each were scored by Blake O’Callaghan, Luke Philpott and Michael Whelan, for the winners, and James Auckland, for the losers.
