Caesarean clean sweep
Wednesday 3rd October 2007, 12:00AM BST.
CAESAREAN Cycling Club members took all the honours in the annual Jersey Cycling Association five-mile time trial over the weekend, with Ali Cann taking gold.
The former Island Games rider finished first of 37 in a strong time of 10 min 35 sec in the final event of the Jersey season.
Second over the course along the Five Mile Road was time trial specialist James Amy, with Adam Wojtkiewicz claiming third.
In the hotly-contested veterans category, seasoned CCC rider Mike Harris put in a superb performance on a fixed gear bike, clinching the vets title in a 11.19.
Noel Hayden completed a powerful ride finishing seven seconds behind for silver, with Kevin Pilley holding off the strongest VSJ challenger Mike Keighrey – by a second – to take bronze.
CCC riders also won the ladies and juniors race: Sarah Smith secured her first JCA win of the season by beating her Island Games team mate Jemima Davis by 12 seconds, while junior Robert Coutanche added another win to his clutch of JCA victories.
And when the times on the road were adjusted to reflect rider’s ages, it was CCC president Allan Mller who top the table yet again.
